Project Spotlight and Giveaway: Olivine Atelier

Branch | Olivine Atelier

This is our last project reveal before the new year and as a thank you for following along, we’re partnering up with Olivine Atelier for a giveaway. Please make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post for the details!

Julie, the founder of Olivine has been dreaming up fragrances and cosmetics to help women feel more beautiful for over 20 years now. Her obsession began young — when she was just 8 years old, she began spending her entire allowance on soaps, lotions and perfumes!

After getting to know Julie online last year, she sent me an unmarked black vial of perfume. From there, I literally carried it in my purse every single day until it ran out. There was no branding to bamboozle me, it just smelled really good. Julie’s fragrances have a complexity to them but she manages to keep them from veering into the overdone, sickly sweet territory — I can only imagine what a tedious process coming up with the perfect new blend must be.

Now a collection of 6 scents, Olivine is more than just a line of fragrances. It’s a celebration of self love. As Julie herself says, “Somewhere along the way I learned with 100% certainty that SELF LOVE is the way to absolute happiness. If you are madly in love with yourself then you can do anything and be anything. And if one drop of perfume puts a smile on your face…causes you to hold your head a little higher…puts a slight twinkle in your eye…inspires you to put a little swing in your hips when you walk…Then I have done my job.”

Back to the branding — Julie has an obsession with gold and we knew we wanted to keep the branding simple enough that it could potentially work across multiple lines of beauty products. Julie was inspired by the symbolism of feathers and had been sourcing gold-dipped versions to tuck inside the packaging so we referenced them in the Olivine icon.

Once the branding was complete, we moved onto the bottle labeling, packaging and collateral. Julie wanted to create a luxury perfume line that was still approachable so she sourced kraft boxes, hand-labeled each and tied them off with a piece of gold-flecked baker’s twine to add the perfect finishing touch. Anthropologie took notice and is now carrying the line!

  1. I hadn’t bought perfume since high school (that was 20 years ago!!!), and I bought a sampler last year. I’m a working mom of two young boys, and wearing perfume helped me remember myself in all the craziness. I had 3 or 4 favorites, but the stickers came off and I lost track of which ones they were! :-/ Is there anywhere can I smell the fragrances?

  2. I’d love to try Full Regalia–once I read that the first note you’re going to recognize is vanilla, I immediately discounted it & kept browsing, but then came back to check this out some more when I realized it’s time for me to branch out and try some fragrances that I shied away from in the past. Seems especially fitting for me to try to enjoy something new like this that has a hint of patchouli–the middle schooler hippie in me still loves it!

  3. Full Regalia, because I was born in the year of the Horse and I love vanilla perfume that doesn’t make me smell like a stripper. I love the branding! Excellent job!

  4. My first choice would have been Olivine More Then The Stars, but I already purchased the oil and EDP. Such a gorgeous fragrance, so my my second choice would be Amongst the Waves, which was my second favorite after smelling my samples. The packaging is lovely, I love the added touch of the feather and receiving one of these fragrances will make you feel very special with the special touches added. For me its not always only about the fragrance, packaging and the special touch are sometimes just as important. Beautiful all the way around.

  5. I’d love a bottle of Full Regalia! This past year, when my wallet was stolen from my purse on my birthday, whoever it was ALSO took my Miss Anastasia perfume! Clearly they had good taste, but I was BUMMED! True story.

    1. Megan: Oh man!!! I still have a sample of Miss Anastasia somewhere. That scent was the one that originally got me hooked! -Shauna

  6. Such lovely packaging! I would like the More Than the Stars scent. I like muskier perfumes and that quote is one of my favorites. I even painted it on the wall in my son’s room.

  7. How much love can a human heart hold? It’s More Than The Stars. To remind me of my son who always points out the moon & stars!
    I would love a Bottle!

  8. I’d like to try She Belongs There. The name of it struck me even before I read its story. “Over time, I’ve come to realize that contortions are unnecessary.
That doing my best is better than worrying about whether I’m doing it right.” That hits home because lately I’ve been more concerned about work and relationships. I’m trying so hard to make everyone happy and be what is good for everyone else and I am losing my own happiness in the processs. I just need to do my best, and that really should be enough.

  9. I would love to try Full Regalia. A top-note of Vanilla reminds me of my mother, who wore Vanilla perfume every day when I was a child. Also, the story of the horse gives me positivity for the year of the horse, which will soon begin!

  10. Full Regalia had me at the words vanilla, blackberry, and Moraccan red rose. It sounds like it was blended just for me. I also love the story behind the scent–the underdog winning the race. Love it!

  11. I would love to win the original scent, Olivine. I’ve purchased the sample pack and that’s the one that I fell in love with. And then I purchased another round of just that scent in a sample because I wasn’t quite sure yet if I was ready to commit to the scent. If I won, then I wouldn’t feel the need to use my sample so sparingly. 🙂

  12. Oh, I would love to win More than the Stars because I’m always gazing up at the sky and fascinated by anything cosmic, and plus this perfume’s story is all about love which I am trying to embody in 2014.

  13. I would love to try Full Regalia. The combination of jasmine, moroccan rose, musk, blackberry, and patchouli sounds amazing. Thanks for such a rad giveaway.

  14. I would love to try More Than The Stars Eau de Parfum because our love is around the world and back again – it’s More Than The Stars.

  15. The “among the Waves” Eau de Parfum should smell really good. We used t live in Florida and going to the beach a lot, and the smell is supposed to make us reminisce that!

  16. It was a tough choice because they were all so appealing, but the amongst the waves would be my fave.

God bless you and Happy new year!

  17. Beautiful, beautiful packaging and branding! I would love to try She Belongs There because, besides the fact that gardenia is my favorite floral scent, the story behind the perfume fits perfectly with how i’d like to see myself, my life in this very moment 🙂

  18. Amongst the Waves sounds delightful. I quite enjoy the idea of something reminding me of warmth and sunshine. 3 more months of this cold stuff and we’ll be back in business.

  19. Fantastic job on the design, it’s stunning! I love the detail and care that Julie takes by putting in gold dipped feathers, I think that’s a beautiful decision. I’d love a bottle of Full Regalia, it seems to incorporate many of my favorite scents!

  20. Hello! I would love to win the More Than The Stars scent. Why? Just because of the name, mainly! I love stars & always have (I even have several star tattoos!). Thanks for the giveaway & Happy New Year!

  21. I love the sound of “More Than the Stars;” the scent sounds like it has Mediterranean notes – a place I would love to be right now!

  22. I love the story behind Full Regalia, such a determined horse! 🙂
However, I love the notes in More than the Stars, so yes, I would go with this one! 🙂

  23. Good Morning! Thank you for the opportunity. I would like to win Waves for my mom. She loves the ocean and has been searching for a perfume that reminds her of the salty ocean, the warm sand underneath her toes and the bright sun. Fingers crossed.

    Thanks,
    Megan

  24. Beautiful work as always. So elegant and timeless… lovely! I’d love to win a bottle of More Than The Stars to kick off my first year as a freelancer. Dabbing that on before potential client meetings would be a nice boost.

  25. I am moved by the story behind Full Regalia. Especially since a scent can be so empowering. Also, i’m a sucker for Vanilla. But i’m really intrigued by her signature scent as well. What a great brand! I’m going with Full Regalia.

  26. I would love try “More Than The Stars”. Besides its fantastic name, the story is about healing a broken heart and brining it back to love – just what I need after 2013, a year of terminal illness, loss and heartache.

  27. Lovely perfumes and blog! I’d love to win Olivine More Than The Stars. My husband and I were married in a planetarium and this would be a wonderful reminder, especially as lily is one of my favorite scents! Thank you and Happy New Year! 🙂

  28. More Than The Stars, because I have always loved astrology and astronomy, not to mention anything cosmic and dreamy. Scent-wise, they all sound amazing, and it is difficult to choose since I have yet to smell them all! This would be a nice start.
